About the Site

The main reason for starting was to exercise the creative side of my brain. I’d recently stopped doing freelance design work and was worried about completely losing that part of my life. A Lack of Imagination was started in the back-end of 2007 as a simple blog on the blogger.com platform. At first I was mainly focused on creating graphic art pieces, they were fairly basic as I was just playing around and experimenting with things. Over time photography became more prevalent in my work and I started doing less of the graphic pieces.

Around a year after I started the project, I moved the site over to the more flexible WordPress platform and purchased my first domain name (alackof.com). I’ve gone through a few rapid revisions to the design and functionality of the site as it evolved into what you see today. A few of the graphic design pieces are still there along with the rare text entry, but I’m now fully focused on my photography. I’ve limited posts to single images and a maximum of one per day, hopefully to be updated every day.

About Me

My name is John and I’m a photographer from Runcorn, an industrial town near Liverpool in the north-west of England. I went to college at Halton College (now Riverside College) where I earned a National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Multimedia (computer based arts). Most of my days are spent making sleeping (I work nights), making websites (I’m co-owner of web design company Ooblay) and taking photographs.
